this fryer is easy to clean and cooks quickly and evenly. the first use, there was a weird smell while cooking. i thought it might be the oil i used, but i think it was just the newness being fried away because it works like a charm now!

I have owned this fryer for several years, and I love it! So why did I only give it four stars? Because the drain tube on mine cracked and split yesterday. I really like my fryer, and will probably buy another one if I cant find a way to replace the drain tube on this one.
The drain tube is a silicone tube about 4-5 inches long that connects to the bottom side of the fryer. It folds up and out of the way behind a small door on the left side of the handle. Unfortunately bending and straitening the tube every time I changed the oil over time caused a split in the tube.
I have an email in to DeLonghi, so hopefully I will get a response soon.
Great fryer December 2, 2008
A little large, but great for families or parties. Easy cleanup. I thought the oil pan was going to be removable, but it is not. Overall a great product.

I have used the fryer 8 times with perfect results. You need to try fried hotdogs, leave them in until they get a little dark, and they are great. I recommed this to anyone, large or small family. It is exactly as advertised.

There are many things to like about this deep fryer, especially the ease with which the grease is drained from the fryer. I could have lived without a timer, and could have lived without a temperature control, but I just can't live with its inability to heat the grease past 340. I checked the temperature with 3 different thermometers, all of which said the same thing. The highest temperature it was able to reach was 345, when most fried foods require a temperature of 375. I tried letting it heat for nearly 30 minutes, and tried stirring the grease - but was unable to get the temperature up to even 350. I tried twice to cook fish and french fries. The french fries almost burned before they got crisp, and the fish had to cook longer than usual in order to get it crispy. I supposed this unit could have been defective, but I'm not taking a chance with a replacement - I'll just get another model/brand, and, alas (I hate to return stuff), this one is going back.
