Made of heavy cast aluminum with a nonstick surface inside and out, this multipurpose cooker with lift-and-drain basket simmers soups and stews, browns and roasts meats, boils corn on the cob and other vegetables, steams fish and rice, and deep fries shrimp and other foods. And in addition to its everyday versatility, the cooker can be washed in the dishwasher after simply removing the heat control. The glass lid is also dishwasher-safe. For safety, the cooker comes with a short 30-inch cord with a magnetic coupler that attaches to the heat control; if jostled, the cord detaches at the magnetized point to help prevent the kettle from being overturned. An easy-turn knob on the heat control adjusts the cooking temperature from warm to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Two large handles make the cooker easy to lift, and four sturdy legs keep the heat off the countertop. The cooker measures 9 inches in diameter and stands 7-1/2 inches tall. what a stupid idea, you are coasting along waiting for the temp to the right degree and then nooooooo, your magnetic break away cord is off its mark and no you have no idication that you are not heating---if for some person needs a break away cord to avoid spilling--I suggest that you eat out at McDonalds

Nice fryer/cooker for an import. I have one from years ago that was made in the USA and this one can't compare to it, but it serves it's purpose and does what it's supposed to do. I'm just hoping it will last as long as the my current one (which is over 20 years old). I use it for melting my candle wax, so it's a good deal for my use.
Versatile value December 4, 2008
This is the most versatile and useful kitchen small appliance I have ever had. It heats up and cools down fast giving you great temperature control. This is not a slow cooker - it's a FAST cooker. You can make entire meals without dirtying a bunch of pots and pans. Bonus, it can go into the dishwasher. I have also used it for steaming and deep frying and it does a great job. Those frozen potstickers come out perfectly tender and browned just the way they're supposed to, and the cooker keeps splattering to a minimum with it's deep sides. I've even made spaghetti and sauce - saute the onions, garlic, mushrooms and meat, set aside, fill with water and cook the noodles, then drain and combine the sauteed mixture with the noodles and sauce. Add a little Parmesean and some fresh basil and you're done! You won't be disappointed with this item, especially at this price. Everyone I've shown it to is amazed that this cooker can do so much, and so I'm buying a couple of them for Christmas gifts.

This product makes me so excited I can hardly get to sleep at night.
Frying was our goal, and the basket makes it easy and safe. It heats up fast, and is a steal for about $25 at Wal-Mart. When comparing to other products, the Presto Kitchen Kettle gives you more volume for your dollar.
One feature of the product (both good and bad), is the weak magnet in the power cord. It breaks away with almost no force if you trip over the cord, or whatnot. However, it makes setup slightly more difficult, as the cord breaks away (or falls off) fairly easily.
Great as a fryer September 13, 2008
Bought this guy to replace a fryer that cost more than twice the price and this one is easier to use and does a better job than the other one I had (and gave away). I'm looking forward to using it for other things now that the cooler weather is on its way. It also cleans up very easily.
