 Songs that reflect today's efforts as well April 15, 2008
Found this CD being sold in Kuwait during my first tour. Every time that I listen to it I think how easily most of these songs can be rewritten to apply to the "war on terrorism." Whatever your feelings are about Vietnam or Iraq I would suggest this two CD set to any music lover or someone that is interested in US history.

I first came across this CD while I was in Baghdad, Iraq. Some of these songs apply to me and the soldiers fighting today as much as they did to those in Vietnam. This is a great CD and I would recommend it to anyone!
First Rate Compliation! March 1, 2006
A fine soundtrack from the A&E special. A good mix of known and lesser known hits from the era gives this soundtrack a freshness without cliche and invokes mood without sentimentality. The speeches intermixed are a reminder that policies have consequences and that the culture at large was reflecting the uncertainty and ambivalence as the war unfolded. A prescient moment for us today.
The mystery is why this compilation is out of print and why the high used price? I just got this cd set new and still factory sealed for .99 cents on eBay!
Both Sides August 6, 2005
I bought this album about a year ago. For me, it was like stepping into a time capsule which flew me back to those days. I wore a steel POW bracelet inscribed with the name of a nineteen year old missing in Vietnam. My best friend's sister ran off to Haight-Ashbury and left us her room and all her albums, which we gladly listened to night and day. All the while, my as yet unknown future husband was fighting in the jungle. Some of these songs make him laugh, with others he falls silent.
Both of my children adored this CD. Now, one is a Marine, the other a Soldier. Hopefully, music will play a big part in bringing them both through this war as it did my husband in Vietnam.
Oh How can I find a copy??? May 10, 2005
I was able to use this recording in teaching about Vietnam-- It sums up the era and really imparts the passion of the opposition to the war. The kids loved it, it's just terrific -- but it belonged to another teacher. If anyone knows how and where to snag a copy, I'd be grateful. epetersen@pcs-nyc.org
